Our substitute teachers, paraeducators, tutors, and support staff come from diverse walks of life. Some are former educators, others are professionals, retirees, or college students. Each one took a different path to begin working in our schools. Here are just a few of their inspiring stories. Evelyn Jennings | Former Dean of Students and Child Development Director  As a substitute teacher, Evelyn Jennings loves the new experiences she has with her students each day. Shortly after substitute teaching, Evelyn’s involvement led to a significant improvement in 7th-grade math scores. She fosters a team environment where the children believe in themselves.   Read more     Terry & Dale Gallman | Retirees  Terry and Dale Gallman are a married couple who substitute teach in retirement. Terry worked 31 years as a full-time teacher and wasn’t ready to stop doing the work she enjoyed. After some time, she chose to return to the school system as a substitute since teaching provided her with joy and fulfillment. Following in her mom’s footsteps, who worked as a Pre-K assistant for 11 years, Saira chose to become a substitute teacher. She now works in the counseling office, where she helps children navigate daily challenges.
