Recycling and Waste Management
Reducing our impact on the environment
Kelly encourages recycling as a key component of waste management. Besides preventing the waste of practical materials—recycling reduces our use of raw materials and energy, while also reducing air and water pollution through conventional waste disposal. Below are a variety of our recycling and waste management initiatives:
Recycling
– Kelly’s Facilities department is a partner in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s WasteWise Program. Our efforts yielded the following results in 2008:
-
Recycled 1,350 lamps, using a vapor removal system to capture mercury vapors
-
Recycled approximately 1.36 million pounds of paper, saving 11,567 trees
-
Conserved to save the use of 4.73 million gallons of water
-
Reduced the amount of air pollution we generate by 399,398 pounds
-
Reduced our usage of landfill space by 2,082 cubic yards
-
Conserved to save 2.77 million kilowatt-hours of electricity
-
Conserved to save 315,028 gallons of oil
– We maintain a soda can and bottle recycling program.
– Kelly recycles all toner cartridges from printers and copiers.
Waste Management
– Kelly’s waste management company separates all recyclables from our trash, including the proper disposal of batteries.
– We dispose of our IT assets and equipment in an environmentally friendly manner.
– Kelly is migrating from hard-copy timecards and paystubs for employees to electronic images—reducing the need to print over 10,000 documents each month.
– We provide electronic invoices rather than hard-copy documents in partnership with many of our customers.
